Jay Wilson de la Blizzard a stat de vorbă, probabil într-o discotecă, cu MTV Multiplayer cărora le-a dezvăluit că Diablo III va pune punct poveştii începute în 1996, odată cu apariţia primului Diablo. Lead designerul jocului a ţinut să precizeze că nu este vorba despre sfârşitul francizei Diablo, căci Blizzard are „alte planuri, dincolo de Diablo III”: „We’re not saying this is the end of the ‘Diablo’ universe, but we are trying to bring this storyline to a close,” a spus Wilson. „It’s not just ‘Diablo III’ — we’ve got plans beyond.”
