Înainte de apariţia lui Portal, un developer în Flash a publicat o versiune 2D inspirată din jocul Valve, pe nume Portal Flash. Joculeţul era simpatic foc, dar îi lipsea taman sarea şi piperul lui Portal - naraţiunea. Azi, acelaşi developer a publicat un mappack pentru Portal, care conţine 40 hărţi din versiunea Flash.
